Lost: Expose (air date 3/28/07)

As the truth about Sun's kidnapping by "the Others" comes to her attention, Hurley becomes suspicious of Sawyer's attempt to reveal the mystery behind two fellow survivors, Nikki and Paulo. Through series of flashbacks we will discover what Nikki and Paulo were doing before the crash and how they survived 65 days on the island.

When I heard this was going to be a Nikki and Paolo episode, I had very low expectations. Maybe that's why I ended up liking it. Pretty darn good for a filler story. Even though it was revisionist history, I liked the flashbacks to the crash from their point of view. It was cool to see Boone, Shannon and Arntz too.

Also liked the Billy Dee Williams stuff. Awesome ending too. I was glad they didn't cop out.

it was a decent episode. i liked the ending, billy dee is classic, and nikki is so hot its silly... but what was the point of boone and shannon?

i noticed something last night: i am not invested in any of these characters. sure, i'd hate to see sayid or desmond go, because they're great... but if anyone were killed off, it wouldn't really affect me. maybe i'm experiencing some kind of galactica finale hangover and should wait a few weeks before trying to watch any other tv drama, but lost just seems so muted compared to BSG...

or am i being too unfair?

oh, and it dawned on me last night that paolo played the persian leader in 300, so now i'm hoping he sticks around for a few more weeks (they can crawl out of there, right?)

Someone on a forum claims they heard the smoke monster sound right before the spiders appeared and bit Nikki... like the island was judging her. Can anyone corroborate this? I'll check on my own tonight.

I heard the smoke monster too so I was shocked that it was just spiders a second later. I thought Paolo was about to see the monster or something.

Its horrible to read spoilers because the producers completely screw with you, but some of the things they hinted with this episode was that a huge mythology question would be answered and a gay character would be revealed, but neither happened.

The story itself was well written and crafted but it still fails to impress me. The only character I care about anymore at all is Sun. I'm getting really tired of the character reveals. I love Shannon, I feel like she made an impact on the flashback, but Boone - snooze.

I'm sure the diamonds at some later season will be needed and they will dig them up to discover that they were buried alive. That will be sweet!

A female Medusa spider was thrown on Paolo. According to Arndt (sp?) earlier in the episode this
spider will attract dozens of horny male Medusa spiders if set loose. That is what attracted the other spiders, not the smoke.

I didn't watch the episode I listened to it. So I probably missed a lot. It sounded pretty good but I was busy working. I watched the last five minutes.

I'll catch the visuals on the net later.

I heard the smoke monster for sure.

I just want to get to the others already.

I miss the old crew of surviors. It has a disconnected feeling this season. Too many variables.

I thought Sawyer throwing the diamonds into the grave was out of character... although I realize he was probably trying to make points with Sun. I'd love it if a few episodes from now we learn that sawyer kept 3 or 4 of the diamonds for himself.

By the way, I loved Nikki's line in the beginning when she was talking to the director... "I was a guest star. We all know what happens to guest stars." That's when I knew she was going to die.

I guess you could argue that the huge mythology question was about Ben's reason for kidnapping Jack, kate and sawyer... but we kinda all knew that already. The gay character could have been Boone. In the airport, Shannon accused him of flirting with "every guy in the terminal". Did you catch that line?

By the way, did everyone else appreciate how they weaved together new footage, old footage, and even alternate takes of old scenes to create the illusion that Nikki and Paolo were there all along? Everything matched perfectly. That episode should win an award for editing. It was genius.

Talk about a filler episode. Introduce new characters, show their back story and kill then all in an hour. Any episode that does not move the story along is lame in my book. Nikki and Paolo find the plane in the woods, Nikki and Paolo discover the hatch, Nikki and Paolo eaves drop on the others, yet they mention these things to no one. Big deal, Boone is gay. I guess he turns gay after he bangs his sister!

I don't buy anyone being gay when they're hot for maggie grace.
