Galactica: The Ties That Bind (air date 04/18/08)
Kara Thrace seeks her own path in the search for Earth as the commander of a lone freighter. The Cylons face the threat of the newly sentient Centurions unleashed by Natalie, a copy of Number Six. On the Galactica, a member of the crew learns a dark secret about a loved one.

By popular demand, the blog is back! Well, more than one person made a passing remark, at least. I chalk the disappearance of the blog up to my recent obsession with Call of Duty 4. Hopefully, I can juggle both.
So, this episode was dark, no?
Cally said something that i thought was interesting. She told Doc Smokey that she hasn't been able to sleep since passing through the Nebula. Also, she's been on medication (don't recall if it was for depression or sleeping pills). Could Cally be the 5th Cylon, and this medication prevented her from hearing "the call"? Also, they went out of their way to show Cally floating dead in space... almost like they wanted viewers to be absolutely sure she was dead. I think this means she'll be back... downloaded into a new Cally body.
Now here's a theory that contradicts what I just typed. Someone online posted that they think the "Watchtower Four" (his name, not mine... but I likey) were not "Cylons from the start", as the Chief theorized. What if the Final Five were hanging out in that Nebula, in non-corporeal form (ghost-like), and simply chose Tigh, The Chief, and gang as vessels? This kinda throws a wrench in the whole Diana story though. How could she have "seen" who the final five were if they didn't have bodies yet. Oh well. Just throwing it out there.
I'm sure all of you Star Trek geeks caught the number of the airlock where Tigh, The Chief and Tory were meeting... 1701D.
What does 1701D mean? I obviously fail the Star Trek test.
I love that theory about Cally as the 5th, but it would be too weird. Maybe the nebula will be revisited when Galactica has to switch directions when Kara finds a way to Earth... I mean what else would pay this off?
It certainly seems like Tory has a lot of time off. She's been away from Caprica One for quite some time. Its like she gave her duties to Zarick.
1701D.... nice. When I first saw Cally, I noticed how much weight she lost. Was it just me or did her body look great? I thought she was much frumpier before. That whole scene in the launch tube was great. I was freaking out that she was going to hit the button with the kid in her arms. If she was a cylon, then two cylons had a kid. If she wasn't a cylon, then its another example of a cylon and human having a baby though no mention of it yet. Was Diana around for Tigh being tortured while in captivity on New Caprica? That would explain her reaction to the final five when she apologized... could have been to Tigh... The Starbuck searches for Earth story was a bit lame to me this week. They have to juice that plot line up a bit.
i liked the non-corporeal cylon theory up until you debunked it with the "diana in the temple" angle. i've read another theory that ALL the people are cylons, and the only real humans are the ones that went to earth. but then that would make the whole "final 5" thing seem a bit pointless.
what if everyone in the fleet is a human/cylon hybrid, and the final 5 are the only pure cylons? nah, that's lame. maybe everyone on earth is cylon? nah.
i knew calle was in trouble b/c she had more lines and dramatic scenes than usual. they did the same thing in the episode where they killed billy (rosilin's assistant). they showed his dead body too, by the way...
but if calle's a cylon, that cheapens her death in this episode. the writers have so far spared us the "bring back a character you thought to be dead as a cylon" gag. i'd be surprised if they used it now.
i never watched the original show, but i once read up on it on the interwebs. it seems like ron moore has stayed pretty faithful to the original show by including many of the same characters & ships. with that in mind, here are some theories.
gaeta is the final cylon. i've had suspicions about him since the finale of season 1 where he seemed to trigger boomer's switch to cylon mode.
baltar is the cylon's "one true god." speaking of baltar, they better have an episode where his congration is discovered, b/c the whole "unused secret compartment" plot devise is a bit contrived.
romo lampkin is "count iblis." really, i just want that character back on screen (but not in a courtroom).
the "angels" or "being of light" have been manipulating baltar by projecting the image of six into his mind. they manipulate six by projecting an image of baltar in her mind. and they got starbuck to seemingly kill herself by projecting leoben into her mind.
starbuck and her ship are somehow recreations made by the angel/light beings. she said something this past week about not really feeling like she existed, like she's just a projection and her consciousness is tied to a machine somewhere else. it was delivered as kind of a throwaway line, but it makes sense...
what are the odds that the road to earth involves a trip through a wormhole or some other kind of time travel? it would explain the "all of this has happened before, and all of this will happen again" line. so maybe the real starbuck is still on earth, but her physical body couldn't make the return trip back to the fleet.
Silas... NCC1701D is the identification number of the U.S.S. Enterprise from ST:TNG. Sorry for geeking out there. (Cue ironic topic switch)
I completely forgot about Diana apologizing to one of the final 5. I do recall immediately thinking that she was addressing Tigh, but I also immediately dismissed it as ludicrous. Funny how I didn't put it together once Tigh was revealed to be a Cylon.
As you can tell by my new username and as I've already made known to you, Chairman and you Meech and Silas, I still feel Gaeta is the 5th Cylon. He fits the common pattern that all of the other 4 follow. They were all on New Caprica during the occupation, they served the resistance in some way or another, they all are paired with an important figure within the fleet or are in charge of an important function on Galactica and not only was Gaeta the main reason why they were able to escape from New Caprica but he was also responsible for figuring out where the Lion Head Nebula was. Now he is part of the search for Earth. Besides, I'm still going with the comment that the 5th Cylon is not in the "Last Supper" picture. That's of course if that comment was true in the first place.
Yes I believe it was Tigh that D'Anna saw in the temple. It would make sense as to why she apologized. The Cylons did torture Tigh on New Caprica while D'Anna was there.
1701D? I didn't catch that, I'll have to go back and watch that again. I love when Ron Moore does stuff like that.
Test...
I noticed that number as well. I tought that was cool!
