Sorry about the late post. I forgot all about this blog.
Awesome start to the season. Where do I begin?
Nathan and Linderman, what is that all about? Can't be him, or can it? No one can see him. Is Nathan cookoo?
Mohinder is now The Fly! Or is he The Hulk? I bet he spends the season trying to cure himself.
Mama Petrelli is Sylar's Mom? Wow. Makes sense, I guess. Or is she tricking him. Probably not.
Ando with powers was cool. Are they writing themselves into a corner again? How do you give these guys powerrs and then take them away? That could be lame.
What's with Nikki? Is she really someone else? How was she able to freeze The Greatrest American Hero guy? Great cameo, by the way.
And President Sheridan makes an appearance! That's a Babylon 5 reference for you non-geeks. But that's silly. Are there really any non-geeks reading this blog?
This show bothers me sometimes. They give people all these incredible powers but they forget to use them all the time. For example, why is Peter running like a madman in the beginning of the episode when he can just teleport? And did they explain how future Peter put present Peter inside someone else's body? Did I miss something? What happened to present Peter's body? I didn't get that part.
I thought the premiere was great too, even though it borrows (or is it a nod to?) from other great scifi/horror.
Claire v Sylar screamed both Scream and Halloween.
Mohinder, I thought the Fly too, which makes me worried Maya is pregnant now.
Niki and her new powers and new personality (Rising Stars)
All in all I liked it. Sad Monica isn't in yet. Definitely hope she comes back and I bet she definitely will.
I like Hiro and Ando's Ying and Yang friendship. They are great together but when acting alone or against the judgement of the other, they get into big trouble.
Loved the reveal on mama petrelli's powers.
Predictions:
-Micah comes back end of season to pull Niki out of Tracy.
-They will retcon Peter and Claire's sibling connection to let them start making out.
-Linderman turns out to be Nathan's grandfather
-End of the season, Nathan is president (which means you can kiss Bruce Boxleitner goodbye)
I agree with Rodimus. Not only can Peter teleport, but he can also fly. And, let me preface by saying that I never thought I’d see myself typing this sentence, ever, in any context, but ENOUGH WITH THE TIME TRAVEL! And the resurrections. Oy.
From a dramatic standpoint, how can we take anything seriously? A hardcore death, a shocking plot twist, a crazy reveal…ANYTHING can be undone on this show with MULTIPLE healers and time-travelers running around. Heroes has all the cohesion of a mid-90’s Batman sequel. Why not just bring back Isaac Mendez, DL, Sulu, and Mr Muggles’ nads while we’re at it?
Nathan’s religious turn? Crap writing.
Mohinder deciding that the best way to dispose of the super serum is to throw it into the river, only (in a telegraphed plot twist) to use it on himself? Crap writing.
It’s kind to say the show is giving a nod to other sci-fi/horror. The word I would use is “derivative.” Heroes is not quite 4400, but it’s getting there. Hell, Maya being pregnant is too predictable (and cliché) for this show to avoid having it happen.
But I’m trying to give it a chance. Why? I like the new Nikki character, both her powers and her personality. Also, I still have a crush on Veronica Mars, though Elle is a shell of that character. And, finally, the cameos. Sheridan is great. Ditto Weevil (the bald guy that Present-Day-Peter got trapped in was a main character on Veronica Mars).
Oh, and I really like the Cylar character, but they need to tone down the theme music every time he’s on screen. We get it, he’s evil. I don’t need a track from Pink Floyd’s Discarded Audio Samples every time the dude uses his powers.
I’m now going to watch this week’s episode.
Ok, I thought this one was much better.
