"We're not going to Guam, are we?"

Lapidus's line and Jin being part of Dharma were the best parts of this episode.

Putting Christian Shephard's shoes on Locke helps them get back to the island? Really? Not a fan of that. Mixing Sci-Fi and mysticism is a dangerous game.

These convoluted mysteries are getting transparent. Now we're supposed to wonder "what happened to Aaron", "why are Hurley and Sayid on the plane", "why is Sayid under arrest", "how the hell is Lapidus flying the plane?", and "why does Ben have a broken arm?". I guarantee you each question will be answered via a separate flashback episode. I guess that will be okay if they can make it interesting.

So why is Ben bloody and beaten? This may be obvious, but I think he killed Mrs. Hawking. I don't recall how much of this is my theory, or the theory of others, but we all know Mrs. Hawking is Faraday's Mom. But someone came up with the idea that Faraday's father is Charles Witmore. It makes sense, since Witmore and Hawking were on the island at the same time (did we ever confirm that the young woman holding a gun to Faraday was a young Eloise Hawking?)Also, it would explain why Witmore was helping Faraday financially, and taking care of the woman that Faraday put into a coma. Okay, so before Jack leaves the church, Ben walks toward the room where Mrs. Hawking is and says "I'm keeping a promise to an old friend". The old friend is Witmore, and the promise is that I'm going to go after your family. Once Ben knows that Hawking is Faraday's Mom, he realizes that she was married (or is married) to Witmore. I figure Ben either kills her, or somehow uses her to try to kill Witmore. I'm sure we'll see the details in a flashback.

So Jack and crew are back in Dharma time. I love this. Jin and Faraday (at least) are part of Dharma. I wish the producers had thought up this storyline much earlier, because they could have seeded some really cool easter eggs into the show along the way.

What's in Hurley's guitar case? My guess is food. That would be way cool and keeping in character.

Did Lapidus make the journey to the island? It really doesn't make sense, but I hope he did. I like that guy.

Oh, and what was with the scene with Jack's grandpa Ray? Have we ever seen or heard of him before? My guess is we'll run into a young Dharma member named Ray at some point.

So I was guessing that the Ajira plane did not crash, but someone on a blog mentioned seeing an Ajira air water bottle on the island during one of the many island time flashes. So maybe the plane crashes, but in a different time. And I bet Sun, Ben, Lapidus and Sayid crash with the plane. It's too soon to reunite Sun and Jin.

We (kristi & I) assumed Ben had killed Penny. He was calling Jack from the docks, and the promise he made to Whidmore was that he was going to kill HIS daughter. So now we know why Desmond will come back to the island...revenge.

I don't mind the vague Eastern mysticism of Dharma, but spare me the "doubting Thomas" crap.

I like this episode, but you're right about the transparent mysteries. At some point the flashback storytelling went from being the show's strength to the show's way of masking shoddy writing.

Nice of BKV to put a Spanish "Y The Last Man" in Hurley's hands. That me us laugh out loud.

Overall, the writers did a poor job of planting "easter eggs" in early seasons. If you're going to do the time travel stuff, you have to plan it from the get go and do it right. Otherwise, it's annoying.

I think you're right about grampa Ray. And also about splitting Sun, Ben, and Sayid up in another time.

I'm guessing the guy on line behind Jack ("Sorry for your loss") at the airport will become a central character. Theres not much subtlety with this show anymore...

Also, I was REALLY annoyed when Jack put Locke's suicide note back in the coffin. Who would EVER do that? Later, when the stewardess handed the letter back to Jack, and he put it in his pocket, Kristi yelled out, "Just read the f'ing letter already, douchebag!" Sometimes the writers get too cute with their slow, water-torture reveals.

Kris was bothered by Sayid ending up on the plane, but I think it makes some sense if he's (presumably) being deported to the middle east from LA to have a changeover in Guam...right?

Also: Jeff Fahey (Lapidus) rules.

After talking with a friend, I agree that Ben either killed Penny or tried to. I just couldn't figure out how Ben would find Penny. He doesn't know about Desmond's connection to her, does he? But then i was thinking... if Ben goes into the back room and makes Mrs. Hawking talk, SHE DOES know about Desmond's connection to Penny. She could provide Ben with that knowledge.

I'll take this theory a step further. Ben either kills Penny or tries to kill Penny, and Desmond probably kicks his ass. Ben gets away. Des follows Ben to the airport, somehow gets on that plane, and he's one of the passengers in the coach section. That's how he gets on the island. Not sure how else he can do it, unless he gets Hawking to help him.

Here's something to think about. And it will be even more interesting if Locke is not in the coffin when they find it.

The Ajira flight was a recreation of Flight 815. Was Flight 815 a recreation of an earlier flight? Did someone want Christian Shepard back on the island (I'm assuming that Christian has been there before)?

If so, does that mean there were passangers on flight 815 who knew what was going to happen? Is that who the Others were, originally? Passangers of flight 815 trying to get back to the island who ended up getting sent back in time to battle Dharma?

Maybe there has been a cyclical recreation of ocean-crossing voyages going back to the Black Rock...

I think Ben tried to kill Penny.

Aaron is with Kate's mother or Aaron's grandmother. Sounds like they aren't going to play out the "raised by another" warning.

Hurley is visited by Charlie, if not someone else.

I hated the ep. It was one big deux ex machina for me. Instead of building the reason for everyone getting on the plane, except for Sun, we are given a rain check.

So the number one thing I hate is the fact that we know Ben had a sub that went back and forth from the island and from everything we learn from Juliet, she didn't have to go through this convoluted scheme to get to the island, so why does the cast have to go through this weird teleportation scheme.

I still also don't buy Sun leaving her baby who she might never see again for a slim chance to see her husband.

I think Kate is pregnant or wants to be or something. That is why she hooked up with Jack and didn't bring Aaron with her.
