Galactica: Someone to Watch Over Me (air date 02/27/2009)
Kara befriends a piano player who reminds her of her father. She also receives a mysterious drawing from young Hera Agathon. "Boomer" faces punishment for her support of Cavil in the Cylon civil war. She reconnects with Chief Tyrol and shares her visions of a peaceful life on Picon. However, her life on Galactica is much less tranquil.

Wow Chief... you frakked up. However, I must admit I didn't see Hera's abduction coming either. So much for a Chief/Boomer reconnect.
I absolutely loved the Starbuck storyline. Not sure that it shed any light on who or what Starbuck is, but it was done so well. Are we supposed to think she's a Cylon... one of these "God" creatures... is her Dad somehow special? I'm just enjoying the ride.
Oh, and special thanks to Verizon Fios and their spoiley episode descriptions. The first few words of the episode description pops up on screen when you press play, and this is what I unavoidably read...
"Kara experiences some visions that..."
The second I saw the piano player, I knew he wasn't real. (Sigh).
Oh, Chief... what have you done? After the Die Hard-esque crawling through the Jefferies Tube during the mutiny, I was getting my hopes up for Chief to go out as a hero. But now he'll either get spaced by Rosalyn or have his skull crushed by Athena. I'm guessing he projects to that house in the instant of his death. It's a bummer.
So if Starbuck's dad taught her Watchtower on piano, her dad was either Daniel OR knew one of the final five, right? Is that the leap we're supposed to make? So Kara could be a hybrid like Hera? Even if she could download into a new body, I still can't figure out how she got a brand new viper.
If Kara is the harbinger of the apocalypse, maybe that means humanity's future is via download.
I didn't see the Hera abduction coming until Athena was getting her ass kicked. Will Baltar and Six rescue her, like in the shared vision?
The writers have done a nice job with drawing parallels between season 1 and these final 10 eps. In season 1, Boomer blew out Adama's guts. This week, Boomer blew out Galactica's guts. So now Cavil knows where the fleet is AND knows they can't jump. Uh-oh.
Lohan brought up a good point that Roslyn was connected to Hera through the blood transfusion and that is probably what causes her projections.
Too bad Roslyn appears to be a goner now.
Now we just need to explain why Baltar projects and who the people are who guides him, the five, and Kara.
Great episode! After watching that and after considering a speculation by a blogger three weeks ago, I strongly feel that Daniel (Skinjob #7) is Kara's father. It's obvious that the man Kara saw as the piano player was her father. The flashbacks of her blowing on his finger like a smoking gun as a kid and next to him at the piano, plus she calls him my father then realizes he's not sitting next to her. So I believe that the piano player was her dad. But why do I think that he is also Daniel?
We all know Daniel was an artist and musicians are also known as artists (musical artist). Kara's mother, in that episode from last season, kept telling her that she was special. At the time it didn't seem like that meant anything. But now? If what I believe is true and Daniel is Kara's father, then what Kara's mother said means something. We also know that the song "All Along the Watchtower" was played by Anders to the other 4 final cylons back on Earth before it was destroyed. So who is to say that maybe Anders taught that song to Daniel. Then Daniel, after his other copies were destroyed by Cavil, went off to one of the colonies and got Kara's mother pregnant. That baby, a hybrid (half human, half skinjob) became Kara. That indeed would make her special, just like her mother kept telling her. Then Daniel teaches Kara the song. Those are just the thoughts I got from watching that part of the show.
Chief? He got played!!! He thought he was just freeing Boomer from the brig. He didn't think, nor I, that Boomer was going to seek out Athena, beat her up, have hot sex with Helo and then steal Hera. What's going to happen to Chief now? What about Hera? Maybe Boomer is not taking Hera back to Cavil? Maybe she knows Cavil is coming to destroy the fleet and she wants to save Hera? Probably not, but with this show you never know. Maybe Caprica Six and Baltar will save Hera, like in the dream about the Opera House.
Speaking about the Opera House, I don't think Roslin is dead. I think she just passed out. I thought that the hybrid on the baseship said, "And so it will come to pass. The dying leader will know the truth of the Opera House." I don't think that truth has been revealed yet, so perhaps Roslin is not dead. Those are my thoughts and so much more needs to be answered in the last 4 hours to be aired. You have got to admit, this show keeps you guessing right up to the end. I remember a quote Ron Moore said at the start of the season: "what ever speculation that the viewers have about how the show will end is more than likely wrong."
"Now we just need to explain why Baltar projects "
Maybe he's a hybrid as well. He could be Kara's half brother, by way of a promiscuous Daniel. This would be in keeping with Galactica's tradition of retroactively creepy sex (Gaius slept with Kara in season 1). Or, just for laughs, Tigh could have fathered Gaius when he was first planted with the colonials...
I love the idea that Starbuck's Dad is Daniel. It seems so obvious now. I don't think I can deal with Lost and Galactica in the same week. I'm too tired to think once Friday rolls around.
Good call by Lohan, too. It makes perfect sense. I don't think Roslin is dead yet. She needs to have a touching goodbye scene with Adama first. If that doesn't happen, then Adama will die and they will reunite in some shared vision.
