I hope Desmond is locked up behind that door in the sub.
So evil Locke's Mom was crazy, and he ends up being the evil balance of the island. Now that he's driven Claire crazy, will Aaron be the new evil one? And if Aaron is to be the new evil one, who is the new Jacob? Any other babies lying around? Sun and Jin's?
I liked this episode. I think the flash sideways are really entertaining. Remember Marvel comics used to have a comic called "What If?" That's what this is. I'm really enjoying it, even if it doesn't give us any answers.
Somebody once said that "Quan" was listed as a candidate, but they weren't sure if that meant Sun or Jin...maybe it meant their baby?
I've been thinking (hoping) that all the ancient mythology symbolism is a slight-of-hand trick played by the writers. Like it's going to end up that the island is a crashed spaceship, which had a cloaking device & a transporter...maybe even a holodeck & food replicators. And Smokey is a nanotech experiment gone awry but anchored to the island. Jacob can be a benevolent computer or AI trying to keep Smokey from running amok through the world. So then Smokey/unLocke's "insane mother" could have been a mad scientist type. Maybe they take a page from Dr Who & say the spaceship's crashing was what caused the dinosaurs to become extinct or sparked life in the primordial ooze.
But these flash-sideways are starting to get old for me the same way the flashbacks & flashforwards did. They were all cool at first, but felt increasingly forced & gimmicky with each subsequent use. It becomes less about the characters & more about the gimmick.
And, wow, Sawyer is a bad actor when forced to show more than a couple emotions. Also, what is with the over-the-top endings the last two weeks? The James Bond circa 1976 musical flourish last week when the periscope emerged...the lame "We're taking the sub" dramatic cut this week... Are they trying to induce eye rolls, or what?
Funny... I didn't notice anything bad about Sawyer's performance.
Good call on the "Quan" thing. That fits my theory perfectly.
I'm pretty sure the producers have already said that the smoke monster is not nanotechnology... which is a bummer because that was my guess from day 1.
i definitely enjoy all your posting way, very helpful, don't quit and also keep penning for the reason that it just simply worth to look through it. looking forward to find out additional of your own posts, regards!
Thanks, Anonymous. We used to have a lot more participants, but they seem to have drifted away. This really started as a way for me to talk about geeky TV shows with friends that I don't get to see too often. Do I know you? Either way, welcome :)
Funny thing about blogs...I took mine down last year, more because of pictures of me sloshed at weddings hurting the job search than anything else, but I was partially frustrated that so few people commented on it despite always talking about it in person. So then after it was down, I got like 50 emails in a month saying "Hey, how come I can't see your blog anymore???" Some of the people I hadn't even spoken to in years...
So even if it's just a few of us rambling nonsensically on about every episode of Lost, I'm sure there are a bunch of people reading it...

Did Des & Penny have a baby?
