Heroes: Kindred (air date 10/09/2007)
Suresh finds an undiscovered Issac Mendez painting that shows someone's death; Maya frees Alejandro from a Mexican jail; in the past Hiro discovers something new about Kensei; and Niki and Micah leave Las Vegas to get away from their past. Claire and West take a little trip.

Liked it a lot better than the previous two... although Claire's little journey with fly boy was lame. Season 1 managed to avoid those sappy moments. That seemed like it was right out of Smallville.
I initially hated Peter's amnesia, but if they were using it to turn him into a super villain, that would rule.
I like that Sylar doesn't have his powers. It's really the only way to keep him around. They made him so powerful last season. Is the fact that he's secluded have anything to do with why he doesn't have his powers?
Cameo by Uhura. Nice! When will Checkov show up?
Everyone is so down on the show, yikes!
Yes, I'm not wowed, but I trust that things are going to intersect in a big way.
My guesses:
-More then one killer ala Scream. One being somehow connected to Peter (ala Amnesia) since he can fly and turn invisible both of which the killer seems to be able to do. Nathan being highly suspectable too, he sees weird deformed self in mirror (maybe Twin Peaks Bob syndrome). He was also in place to put both images for Sulu and his mom to find. Plus I still think the horrible secret connects to why their dad is dead, which would both motivate Peter and Nathan towards revenge.
-Really scared Ali Larter is going to bite it. Her story is done and they've been adding characters to the show like mad men.
-Nichelle Nichols is connected to the old regime (and I'm not talking about Star Trek)
-Sark is set to be related to Claire, does that mean Hiro does the Fry manuever and become his own ancestor or Ando's?
-Sark not only heals rapidly, but he doesn't age either...
-HRG in the 8/8 painting is acutally Sylar
-Sylar has the virus? Hence no powers?
-Poor candace, I really did like her, wish she wasn't really dead. She could have easily made him believe he saw himself kill her, hence no power as well.
-Claire's new bf enrolls in the Owen Wilson school of acting
-Maya's powers are connected to the virus. The brother will die, just hopefully it won't take as long as isaac did.
-Suresh will turn to the dark side when he finds out his sister is alive
-Parkman's baby will come into play. Maybe it will have the virus?
-Each week they will invent a new way to have Peter without a shirt. It'll be this season's drinking game. Right along with superflous way to show off Claire's ability.
-Someone we know probably stole Claire's car in a humorous yet so far unseen predicament.
Sorry, Silas, but we're down on the show because it's getting further and further along without giving payoffs worthy of the comic-style plotlines we were told we'd get.
I'm still hooked. The Peter storyline has promise. The evil side of him could play interestingly. And Sylar's struggles in the jungle leave me curious. So does the symbiotic relationship between the Crying Jesus Times. (Form of a pious bleeder. Shape of a departed soul.)
I will note a few lowlights of curdled milkiness from this last episode:
-- The Lois Lane red-eye was awful. It's as if the show picked up some viewers, realized they had to titilate with the Cheerleader's obvious sex appeal and say to hell with whether the scene moved the story forward. And what about the writing in that scene. "I'll never forget him. The man with the horn-rimmed glasses." Lame.
-- The return of the bifurcated blonde. She added very little in last season, when her end was welcomed. Now she's back? Ugh. She was superfluous in a season where she was mysterious. Now she's just a waste of time on the screen.
-- Repeated dips into the Star Trek bag. There's nobody else in Hollywood that can portray the first generation of heroes? (I agree with Silas that she's part of the old guard). What's next? Deeana Troy is a mind reader? Or Q can travel through time next to Hiro?
"Liked it a lot better than the previous two"
agreed.
"I initially hated Peter's amnesia, but if they were using it to turn him into a super villain, that would rule"
the less speaking, and the more blasting, the better.
"Cameo by Uhura. Nice! When will Checkov show up?"
i thought it was lame, dipping into that same pond again. but at least checkov would have had more recent geek cred (bester)
"Yes, I'm not wowed, but I trust that things are going to intersect in a big way."
i agree. just wish the mysteries were all either less transparent or more interesting. silas has a fine list of theories, though. he's going to clean up all the experience points by the end of this session...
"I'm still hooked"
i wouldn't say i'm "hooked" as much as i'm biding my time until lost and galactica are back on the air. but for the record, i'm currently enjoying both bionic woman and journey man slightly more than heroes.
"What's next? Deeana Troy is a mind reader? Or Q can travel through time next to Hiro?"
Harcourt Fenton "Harry" Mudd as the tough as nails street pimp with the heart of gold.
DID YOU NOTICE: the brother betraying the irish family was played by the snooty engineer from enterprise.
Actually, Silas' analysis has reinvigorated my interest in the show. I'm willing to sit through some slow parts and some corny stuff if we get some of the stuff Silas is promising. Which episodes are you writing Silas? I look forward to those.
Seriously though, I can see it heading somewhere now. And it's still one of the better shows on TV. It's nowhere near as bad as Jericho.
Where's the love for Uhura? I love that casting. There hasn't been such inspired casting since the golden trifecta of Ernest Borngine, Tim Conway and Charles Nelson Reilly as Mermaid Man, Barnacle Boy and The Dirty Bubble in Spongebob Squarepants! (Did I just lose everyone?)
"(Did I just lose everyone?)"
-Sadly, No... You didn't
"DID YOU NOTICE: the brother betraying the irish family was played by the snooty engineer from enterprise."
-Sadly I noticed immediately when he was introduced.
AND the voice of mr krabbs is provided by geek favorite clancy brown!
so can we set up some kind of closed-captioning system where silas posts messages during heroes and explains why i shouldn't fastfoward stupid scenes like the wonder twins car theft attempt in broad daylight, or clair ("keep a low profile") flying around town with her new buddy, or peter going through with some elaborate heist to get back the contents of the box (instead of simply using his powers to get it) but then blowing off the box when the heist is done....?
btw: there's a new character to be introduced who is played by a familiar actor/actress, and it's keeping me from giving up on the show...but i won't spoil it for everyone else...unless somebody asks me too :^)
This show is monumentally average.
Ugh, anyone watch the new commercial for the show? It basically gives credibility to my top theory. Wish I hadn't watched the commercial.
So now I think Peter was close enough the Nikki in the finale to absorb her duo-identity. Did he touch her after she smacked Sylar with the parking meter? Its making him have black out spells like she did, but the "jessica" side of him is taking his powers to a whole new level, allowing him to kill from across the globe.
I would do pop up television for everyone, but I watch this show like 3 days after everyone else does.
Yes, i can't wait until Gossip Girl starts dishing on the Heroes. Though really this show steals people from so many popular sci fi, I'm waiting for a Lost/BSG to show up on Heroes.
