Galactica: A Disquiet Follows My Soul (air date 01/23/2009)
Admiral Adama wants to outfit Colonial ships with superior Cylon jump drives to help the fleet find a new permanent home. As part of the deal, the Cylons ask for complete acceptance by the humans. Not everyone agrees with the plan. Tyrol uncovers some family secrets when he brings his ailing son to Doc Cottle for medical treatment. Meanwhile, Baltar rails against his God and stirs up his followers in the wake of their tragic disappointment over Earth.

So Callie cheated on The Chief. Was there any hint of this earlier, or was this just a necessary plot device to keep Hera the only Cylon/Human baby?
Another great episode. Was/Is anyone else worried about what that nurse might do to Tigh and Six's baby? That would be pretty dark.
Look at Gaeta! What a dick. Are these events happening after the webisodes? They must be. He seems way too pissed at Cylons. I have a feeling a lot of characters are going to get killed before this show wraps.
I'm also curious about the Callie/Chief thing. Why is it important enough to spend that much time on? With the Six-Tigh Concoction brewing, why muddy the pediatrics plotlines with another baby? Just seemed irrelevant and a runaway tangent.
Gaeta is quickly becoming a hero to me. The scene in the cantina was priceless. Think about it. Kara's making amputee jokes and Gaeta was still winning the argument? He's fomenting revolution and you want to side with him? This show has an uncanny ability to make you choose the side that would normally appear morally reprehensible, but in Galactica's universe somehow makes sense.
I really don't want the show to end, but at the same time, I can't wait to see the resolution.
Gaeta is the man. "Can't keep those toasters waiting" has replaced "Frak Earth" as my catchphrase of the week. I agree with Clark Kent that the cantina scene was priceless. Hey, if you wanna curry sympathy among the crew, pick a public fight with Starbuck. She revels in being unlikable, and she'll never back down from a confrontation.
So is Gaeta going to end up killing Mr Hoshi, or is Mr Hoshi going to end up betraying Gaeta?
It's great that after an episode with so many "holy crap" reveals, the writers can scale it back with a character-driven episode and yet it doesn't feel scaled back.
As for Callie/Chief, I think they need to address why Hera is so important if there are all these other cylon babies running around. Scratch Nicky off the cylon baby list. And, as Chairman pointed out, let's see what the nurse does to Caprica's unborn.
I don't see many of these characters making it to the end. Gotta wonder if that shared Opera House dream is the final (or close to the final) scene...
I like the episode, very subtle. They really try to manipulate your expectations and then go another route.
Previews made me thing it would be Chief v Tory but instead it was a better reveal with the child not being cylon. They made it seem like Baltar would be the father of Cally's child (which would have been interesting) but then made it Hotdog. Zarick seemed like it was headed to this dramatic shootout, only to be played out very low key in the jail cell. You expected a big blowout between Adama, slapping some sense into Roslyn, only to see her win an argument based on "blah, blah, blah" (which was awesome).
I think its one thing to have gay characters, but I think they tried to play it safe by moving them to an exclusive dvd and webisodes. If they actually expose Gaeta's and Hoshi's relationship and then use it in the plotline like Hoshi turning on Gaeta. I will be impressed (not that they need to impress me).
My predictions are civil war breaks out only to be stopped when Cavil's troops show up and they have to unite again. Though secretly I'm hoping for a split between the fleet causing two parallel story lines.
He's supposed to be. It's exactly like he told Starbuck: They almost threw him out an airlock for collaborating with Cylons. Now Adama would throw him out an airlock for not.
Between that and his peg leg, he's earned the right to play the heavy.
Chairman, I think the scenes in the webisodes haven't happened yet. In the webisode where Gaeta says to Tigh that he needs to see the Admiral and he couldn't tell Tigh (whatever) because he was a cylon, just before that statement Tigh says to Gaeta, "don't worry Mr. Gaeta, cylon technology will get us to where we need to go."... They have yet to install all of the ships with the cylon technology for increasing Jump-Drive performance. Remember, that was one of the decisions that Zarek and the Corrum rebelled against. So I think that since the cylon technology that Tigh talks about in the webisode hasn't been installed yet, then the incidents of the webisodes haven't happened yet.
Yes I think Gaeta is becoming a Dick but he's pissed off right now. After all it was Anders, Starbuck's husband and one of the final 5 cylons, that shot him in the leg and made him lose his leg. Also I agree with ClarkKent, Gaeta almost got air locked for collaborating with the cylons after getting back on Galactica. Do you remember who it was that tried to airlock him? Final cylon Chief Tyrol, Col. Tigh, Anders & then Starbuck, Seelix & another dude from the resistance. So I can see why Gaeta has turned to the dark-side.

I think something big or significant is going to happen between Gaeta and Hoshi. Gaeta warned Hoshi in that last webisode to keep his head down, so something big is going to happen. I also think that Hoshi will turn on Gaeta and possibly stop or partially expose Gaeta's plan (whatever that might be). Between the two of them, Gaeta seems to be the unstable one and Hoshi seems to be the more stable one. Gaeta seems more the rebel and Hoshi more regimented. Hoshi was after all, Admiral Cain's CIC Radio Officer on Pegasus before becoming part of the Galactica crew.
I agree with Chairman, I think the whole Callie/Chief/Hotdog baby thing was a necessary plot device so Hera can be the only Human/Cylon hybrid. I also feel a little worried about that nurse and I'm sure she is going to be a part of whatever mutiny that Gaeta has planned for this Friday's episode. She did seem quite friendly towards Gaeta while he was waiting for Doc Cottle. At least that's how it seemed to me.
I was shocked no one died in this episode but I'm sure we will start to see more people get killed off, especially if mutiny breaks out. LOVE THIS SHOW!!!
I think Tigh's line in the webisodes about the cylon technology could be explained by saying that the idea had been kicking around on Galactica, but they hadn't introduced it to the fleet yet. It just seems clunky that the webisodes take place between say episodes 3 and 4, rather than just happening prior to the new season.
I love the new Gaeta, if for no other reason than the actor is getting a chance to show his chops. Gaeta has been a very underutilized character, which probably fueled all the "gaeta is a cylon" stuff. In some ways, Gaeta has been depicted as the most identifiably human character, so seeing him turn like this is especially tragic.
So if Gaeta isn't the 5th, is he Iblis? I SWEAR there was something poignant in the way he spoke to Boomer just before she shot Adama.
"Can't keep those toasters waiting."
