Hurley and Miles were great with the time travel talk.
So Ben is going to lose his memory, and his innocence. Hmm. The lost memory thing is a little convenient for storytelling purposes, but whatever. I'm really enjoying all of this, so it doesn't bother me that much. I was hoping they'd show us a little more of young Ben's cure. Hopefully next week. Thta's the same temple that Rousseau's men were dragged into, right?
Looks like Ben was definitely surprised to see John Locke alive again. So much for any theory that Ben knew the island would resurrect him.
I was very happy with the explanation they gave for Kate going back to the island. In my mind, there was no reason for her to do that, yet they managed to convince me in under an hour. Nice job.
The episode didn't impress me too much. I've always been leaning on Ben knowing that he has to play out these events so he can be adopted by the "Others", but now I guess he just won't remember which makes less sense to me.
Kate and Jack bore me. Kate's backstory makes no sense to me. So they all have to lie, but Kate immediately blabs to the mother of Sawyer's child. Umm No! I get Hurley telling his Mom the truth because its someone that it hurts him to lie to, but Kate is so used to lying so why tell the truth to two almost strangers? Whatever... See you aaron, plus don't explain to me why you shouldn't be raised by another/an "other". Clearly I don't need to have answers cause I'm just sucked in for the long haul.
Kristi and I were talking about how, when Kate was saying a tearful goodbye to Aaron, we had no emotional connection to the characters. Ditto when Charlotte died in Faraday's arms. At some point in the last few seasons, we stopped investing in the characters. "Not Penny's boat" seems like it was 5 seasons ago...or another show entirely.
Last week you talked about how Ben getting shot made you say "what?" out loud. My reaction was to just roll my eyes, knowing Ben would either A) survive being shot at point blank range by Sayid the pro killer, or B) be brought back to life by the powers of the island. They did both.
So should we assume Rousseau will end up getting a similar mind wipe in the temple? There needs to be an explanation for why she doesn't remember Gin, right?
I did enjoy the idea of Sayid/Jack/Kate/Sawyer's actions/inaction being responsible for making Ben into a remorseless monster. Maybe this contributes in some part to whatever path Jack takes to become the ghostly Jacob.
So how long are the viewers going to have to wait before the characters stop running around the temple and actually explore it? It seems to be the source of Richard Alpert, Ben's loss of conscience, and Smokey. If my Jack/Jacob theory holds up, I'm thinking Jack's transformation goes down in the temple.

Monsteratomic hit it on the head: Jack and Kate are tough to watch, but put them together and I begin to loathe this show.
