Lost: Left Behind (air date 4/4/07)
Kate and Juliet are stranded in the jungle after Kate learns that there is a traitor in the survivor's midst. Meanwhile, Sawyer's poor attitude and selfish ways towards the beach community may earn him a vote of banishment if he doesn't have a change of heart.

Interesting. So the Others don't know what the smoke monster is. I guess that means patchy was telling the truth and they are not Dharma.
So where the hell did everyone go? Did Locke join them so he could remain on the island, or is he up to something?
The only thing that bothered me about the episode was Juliet's plan to handcuff herself to Kate. She's already friends wih Jack. Why not just buddy up to him? I guess she wanted some insurance. She couldn't chance Sayid and Kate vetoing Jack. Okay, never mind. I guess it kinda makes sense.
So now that Juliet is with survivors, they better ask her a ton of questions. I'll be really pissed if there isn't constant grilling on the wlk back to the beach. Of course, she may not tell them the truth... I think she's may still be working for Ben.
How about that flashing light coming from the smoke monster! I got the impression it was recording stuff from Juliet... reading her mind?
The story answered nothing and the backstory revealed nothgin, but this was an excellent episode. So compelling and heartfelt. This is when Lost can actually hit it home.
So good to see some Monster goodness. Really glad they revisited it and didn't just stop with the mind reading flashes, but also came back to throw down with Juliet.
I think Juliet is the other ben, she may have been a good person in her past life, but has been hardened by the Others. I think she saw her chance to manipulate Kate especially after Kate attacked her in the intro, she knew she would quickly have to defuse that situation.
I do think Juliet is still working with the Others. I think we're headed to a season finale showdown with the Others. I think we have to have a Juliet betraying Jack encounter. I think they want to draw out the Kate/Jack thing as long as they can.
The previews showed Sayid grilling Juliet so at least they are smart enough to follow the logical conclusion. I'm surprised that they didn't throw in a beach story for next week to make us wait awhile before dealing with Juliet and the Losties.
Sayid only has one line of dialogue, but he still practically steals the episode. Is his character THAT good, or just under-utilized?
The smoke monster... was that some kind of Dharma defense system gone awry? Is that why there's no Dharma left? I think the smoke monster is some kind of nano-technology... But what was that flashy deal with Juliet? Was it reading her as a "friendly" (which would explain why it didn't kill them)? Was it doing some kind of advanced medical scan? Does it distinguish between "good" people and "bad"? So far it has spared Locke, Eko, and Juliet/Kate (but it did eventually kill Eko). I can find no pattern...
Is it too far fetched that Dharma members transferred each of their consciousnesses into the nanos within the smoke cloud, and now they exist as some kind of hive consciousness? Ok, that's a stretch...
I think "the others" moved their camp to wherever that "box" is that Ben told Locke about. Underground in another hatch, maybe (that's why they left no trail)?
I think everything we've seen between Ben, Juliet, and Jack has been a setup to get Jack to trust Juliet...and I think Ben has orchestrated the whole thing without Juliet even realizing it... The finale of the season may very well come down to Juliet having to choose between her loyalty to Ben and her feelings toward Jack...
I thought this episode tied the Desmond flashback ep as "Best of Season 3." The Sawyer/Hurley dynamic is fun without being too goofy. The look on Kate's face when Jack asked about Juliet was awesome. Ditto the look on Sayid's face at the very end after he questioned Jack about bringing Juliet back to camp. I'm hoping we've reached a point in the season where there will be no more "filler" episodes, because those tend to blow (See also: The Revisionist Saga Of Paolo and Niki)...
I, too, believe that the smoke monster is nanotechnology, but someone (Silas?) told me that the Producers have already said that it isn't. that disappoints me, because it's the perfect explanation. I read a book on it once, and it not only said that a group of nanobots would look like a swarming cloud, it said they could enter the body and repair it (Locke, et al) and that they could "lock" together to form objects. Living objects like Jack's father is a bit of a stretch, but if you couple it with some sort of mind reading technology, then why not?
