Lost: The Beginning of the End (air date 1/31/2008)

They thought they had met the enemy. They thought they had seen evil. They thought wrong. As the new season begins, the feeling that rescue is close at hand, the survivors don't know whether or not to believe Charlie's final message that the people claiming to liberate them are not who they seem to be. As unlikely alliances are formed, those they thought could be trusted may turn against them,as the enemy of their enemy becomes their friend. But who can be trusted? Is rescue really as close as it seems?

Ah... so glad Lost is back. Loved the episode. Looks like I was right about flash-forwards being the new flashbacks. Great idea. It breathes new life into the show.

So, looks like Locke is buddies with Jacob now. Can Jacob's cabin really appear and disappear, or was that in Hurley's mind. If it can't disappear, why didn't anyone stumble upon it earlier?

Who do you think the remaining 3 of the Oceanic 6 are? One has to be Sawyer. In the last episode of last season, Kate made a reference to someone waiting for her at home... "he'll be wondering where I am". I'm guessing that's Sawyer. I would think the other two would be Sun (because she was pregnant) and Claire because she had a child (maybe the child doesn't count toward the six?), but who knows. We really don't have enough info at this point. Hurley is one of them, and he went with Locke's group, so it could be anyone. Oh, and do you think the guy in the coffin is one of the 6, or could that be Michael (Walt's Dad)? He could have made it back sooner. And he's hated enough that no one would show up to his funeral. But where is Walt... dead?

Did anyone watch the last episode of last season when it aired on wednesday? They mentioned that the hospital Jack works at is called St. Sebastian, and St. Sebastian was the patron saint of plague victims. Interesting, given all the previous internet talk about the Dharma initiative potentially releasing a plague on the world.

i missed this show; glad it's back. here are my rambling thoughts...

did hurley see jacob in the rocking chair? is that significant? i thought only locke & ben could see him...

remaining 3 of the "oceanic 6": sun, clair, bernard... ok, i have no clue. but i think sawyer sacrificed himself to save kate while they were all on the island.

the "he" that would be wondering where kate is could be her military dad...or maybe her old flame captain mal...

in the coffin...michael? ben? if it was one of the oceanic six, it would have gotten a bigger headline and somebody would have attended the viewing.

hurley mentioned "we gotta go back and help them" (or something). are there still some losties stuck on the island getting tortured or something? that has sayid (GETTING tortured) written all over it...

and the guy from the wire/oz asked hurley "are they still alive"? are the bad guys looking for the losties who stayed behind? is that why the six are compelled to not tell their story?

it'll be weird watching this season because i'm not trapping in an office job all day where i spend hours doing internet research and dissecting every episode. just hope the strike ends sometime soon so we don't have to wait another year for the 2nd half of this season...
