Damn you! They blew it up! Damn you all to hell!!!

Had to state the obvious. Sorry.

Wow. I probably should have seen that coming. I thought all along that they would arrive at Earth in the early stages of development, but this makes more sense. Now Cylons and Humans can colonize, rebuild, and live amongst one another. Or will they?

So the final Cylon is NOT in the fleet. Interesting. That means they're probably dead, or were one of the "humans" held hostage on the Base Ship. However, if they were on the Base Ship, why wouldn't Deanna have identified them? Has any really important character died that Deanna would have known about? Not Billy. How would she know he's dead? Ellen Tigh? I'll have to think about this one.

DAMN!!! I had an emergency to tend to and didn't see nor record the show. Thankfully SciFi will re-air the show again Sunday night, so I'll wait until then to leave my comments on the show. But of course (being that I read spoilers) I had to read the Chairman's blog comments.

YUP, I knew that they were going to find Earth and that it would look like it had been destroyed by a nuclear war. I also knew that the 5th Cylon would not be revealed until the second half of the season.

The final cylon is not in the fleet? Interesting. Could be a play-on-words, as this show likes to do on occasions. I can't wait to see the show on Sunday night. Could Admiral Cain be the final cylon? Afterall I used to think she was a cylon back in Season 2 after Tricia (Six) said in an interview prior the the Pegasus Part 2 episode, that she will get to kill a cylon in the episode. The only important person she killed in that episode was Admiral Cain. But maybe Cain isn't the 5th, because the hybrid in the episode Faith told Kara (and everyone else there) that the final 5 cylons were in the colonial fleet... I'll have more to report on Monday after watching Revelations on Sunday night.

Nice! Kris and I said the same thing.

The way they set it up, with everyone flipping out (Lee throwing his jacket and jumping on a table) and then down on Earth with the broken, devastated looks on their faces. Fracking awesome. "I want to see you grab that first fist full of Earth." Oh, the sweet irony!

And I love how they had every major character on the ground for that final scene, with all the color washed out. Now THAT is fracking art!

I wonder, though, when all is said and done if we'll look back on this episode as where they should have ended the show. It felt almost complete to me, final cylon be damned.

But I have no idea, none, where they are going from here (not a spoilery peep, GaetaIsThe5th). They can't build anything on Earth if the soil is contaminated with radiation, right? So now what? I vote for a trip back through time to populate a planet called Kobol.

Does Deanna know the final cylon, or did she only see 4 out of 5? She could be bluffing.

Will the final cylon end up being on Earth already? It could be somebody that we already know who is dead, or it could be somebody entirely new...

OOOhhhh, great idea. Final cylon = a gruff & grizzled, barely recognizable Dirk Bennedict.

No?

Lloyd Bridges?

I always wanted Admiral Cain to be played by Jeff Bridges... or more realistically, Beau Bridges. That would have been a nice nod. However, Michelle Forbes turned out to be perfect.

Admiral Cain as the 5th makes a lot of sense. It needs to be a big reveal, given the amount of build up it's getting. I don't remember when that episode "Faith" aired. Was it before or after Cain died?

That had to be one of the best episodes of television I've seen in a while!!!

Interesting finding Earth in that state. I had a sinking feeling when they were all celebrating on the ship that something like that would happen. Great drama!!!

Could there be some strange survivor on Earth that would turn out to be the final cylon??? I know that's a stretch...

Admiral Cain huh? I have no idea where all this could lead. But I tell you my heart was pounding during most of that episode!!! Wow...

The chairman asked, "I don't remember when that episode "Faith" aired. Was it before or after Cain died?"

Well after Cain died. The Faith episode was this season, about 3 or 4 episodes ago.

I'll report more after I watch the show tonight (Sunday) since I didn't see it on Friday nor did I record it.

shunanimous, don't worry, I don't know of any spoilers for the second half of Saeson 4. If I did, I wouldn't post them here.

WOW! What a great episode. I loved how cool and calm Tigh, Anders & Tyrol were when they were captured. It was like they knew that they were not going to be flushed out the airlock. That they were important pieces of the whole puzzle being played out by a higher power, just like what Kara said to Lee when explaining the signal in her viper.

The events of this episode have changed some of my theories and have enforced another. "All of this has happened before and it will happen again." I have said many times before that that quote referred to the mixing of the races, cylons and humans. Well it seems like that will be happening now that both the colonials and cylon rebels will be living together on or in orbit of Earth. I really don't see where else they could go. However I think something else needs to be added to the meaning of that quote. THE NEAR DESTRUCTION OF THE RACE IN ORDER TO BE BORN AGAIN. Just like what Baltar said last week, while confessing to Roslin about why God forgave his guilt for being part of the near destruction of the human race on the colonies.

So based on that possible theory, I'm guessing that another major battle will occur before the end of the second half of season 4. This is why I say that. There are still a huge amount of BAD cylons looking for Earth and the fleet. All of the 1's - Cavil, 4's - Doral, 5's - Simon and all of their dumbed down Raiders and unchanged Centurions. It's pretty obvious that another major struggle for survival will occur with the colonials, rebel cylons & the final four going up against all of those BAD cylons. The only difference this time is that the cylons will be mortal. That fact alone gives the colonials and rebel cylons the upper hand. I also think that Boomer will turn against her now allies and help in the destruction of the BAD cylons, just like D'Anna hinted to Cavil before she broke his neck last week.

Who is the 5th final cylon? After D'Anna's comment about there being only 4 in the fleet, I'm not sure what to think. Perhaps she can only sense the 4, since it seems that only those 4 were activated at the nebula? Perhaps she can't sense the 5th because it hasn't activated yet? Or maybe she is right? Either way I think the revelation of the 5th will come about during the final showdown between the colonial/rebel cylons and the BAD cylons. Because what the Old Man Hybrid in Razor said about the 5th being revealed, "...that will only come in the howl of terrible suffering." Perhaps that suffering will be the next near destruction of the races when that next battle occurs? Of course I will be re-watching the entire Season 4.0 over the next few months to see if can pick up any more clues. WHAT A GREAT SHOW!!!

Great Episode. I loved when Adama broke down. What's her name that plays Kara mentioned long ago that if the writer strike continued, the 10th episode could work as the finale, though would not reveal all.

The episode aired in LA prior to the actual broadcast and many of the actors talked about their reactions to the actual 20th episode finale which just finished shooting. It was very interesting although I won't mention it here. Jane Espenson did say that she long assumed the final 10 episodes would air in 2009. Ron Moore said likely only one BSG movie to be made before the final 10 airs, but did not discuss possible plots.

What I got from D'Anna's cryptic "only 4" message was that either Baltar or Roslin was the 5th and she knew by their interactions that they didn't know yet, unlike seeing the 4 greet her arrival.

I almost don't care about the 5th. How exactly does finding its identity help the human race, it only helps the cylons. Earth was the payoff for the humans and now that they don't get that, what's going to happen?

Lohan made a good catch that the final scene is looking at the destroyed Brooklyn Bridge and then looking at Manhattan, although I haven't watched it again to see for myself.

Lohan also thinks there are survivors on earth but I don't buy it. My most pressing mystery is what is up with Kara and her ship.

Oh another thing I was going to say. The fleet should have known prior to touchdown what they would find. They should have expected Dradis contact and signals of technology, but the end shot with everyone on Earth is much more dramatic then just a bunch of people in radiation suits, I guess.

Its really a dark critique on the waring nature of humans. God, I'm hoping for a really dark Blake 7 type of ending now.

I will be going back and watching the season again. I'll check out to see if I can see what Lohan was talking about. I was thinking Washington DC but it could be NY as well.

Perhaps the entire planet may not be destroyed? The signal Kara picked up in her viper was a colonial signal, so she said to Lee. So there has to be something or someone that sent that signal.

Adam said something interesting today. He asked, what if by the end of the season, everyone dies and only Hera and Nicky survive and essentially become the next Adam & Eve. I think that's quite a stretch.

I hear that there will be one TV movie of BSG but it will not explain any details past what we already know. And they say that the last episode will be 3 hours long, instead of two hours. Ron Moore is writing and directing that episode. It's been said that it will definitely answer a lot of questions about the whole saga and that fans will absolutely love it. Based on how they ended the first half of the season (which was great), I feel Ron Moore will not let us fans down.

Silas: I think I read about the same reactions from the actors after their initial read of the final script. It's going to be heavy. Every week, when my lady and I settle down for BSG, we pause and ask each other "are you ready?" The show is just that good, and sometimes it totally kicks our asses.

I still have a gut feeling that a handful of survivors from the fleet, including a few cylons, will end up thousands of years in the past and become the original Lords Of Kobol.

The 5th/final cylon...Deanna said it wasn't in the fleet. So does than mean it could be a civilian? Or does it have to be either somebody dead or somebody we haven't seen yet? I tend to doubt it would be somebody we haven't seen yet. If it could be a civilian, Romo Lampkin is a decnet choice. If it's somebody who is dead, Cain is a solid choice. Or Kendra Shaw. Billy would be cool, but I think Roslin will be dead by the time we meet the final cylon, and having Billy come back as a cylon is almost pointless without Roslin there. I doubt it's an Adama, unless it's Zack. Roslin/Baltar seem unlikely if only because it seems so plausible. I always suspected Gaeta, and maybe Moore originally intended him to be a cylon, but I think that ship has sailed. Ellen Tigh would be fun to have around if Col Tigh is having a baby with Six. Calle would be lame. Ditto Kat. There deaths were so hardcore, bringing them back as cylons would cheapen it...

ok, we're moving and have to give up our dvr box, so i rewatched this episode while i still could...

the final scene...is chief smiling in the background? it's kind of out of focus, but he looks pleased. that would jive with his demeanor throughout the episode. so does he know something that we don't?

when adama makes the announcement that they've reached earth, everyone in the fleet goes crazy except tigh, anders, and tyrol. did they know, or are they just that estranged from humanity?

in the last scene, torrey reaches for anders' hand, but he pulls away. i think she made a mistake by moving to the baseship. she'll end up isolated, and the other cylons will turn on her.

hey, are we all assuming the "earth colonists" nuked themselves? could some other faction have gotten to earth before the fleet and nuked them from above? the more i look at it, the more that last shot looks like they're standing at the foot of the brooklyn bridge facing manhattan.

in that last scene, EVERYONE was on the planet, even dee...except for gaeta. curious.

Shunanimous said, "in that last scene, EVERYONE was on the planet, even dee...except for gaeta. curious." That's because Gaeta is the 5th. LOL. Seriously I think Gaeta wasn't there because he only has one leg and as you can tell from earlier in the episode, he has trouble moving about on crutches.

You know I think Lohan was right. Shunanimous also thinks so. That last shot does look like the view from the Brooklyn side of the Brooklyn bridge looking back towards downtown NYC.

I think the somber mood that the final 4 were displaying was typical cylon behavior. After that last musical signal they all became less emotional and less affraid of what was to come. As for Chief smiling... the only time I saw him smile in that episode was when him and Anders were caught by the guards when talking to Kara by her viper and when the blast doors were closing before they almost flushed Tigh out of the launch tube.

I was wondering. Since I don't see why the second half of the season wouldn't revolve around searching for other Earth survivors and colonizing Earth, as well as defending Earth from the BAD cylons that will eventually find the fleet and Earth, do you think that maybe there are still people alive on Earth?

I think Lohan might be right on another topic. (Lohan right twice on the same show?) Just because the last scene was a destroyed NYC doesn't mean that all of humanity is dead. I think there may be survivors left in other parts of the world. I think it could be like Logan's Run, minus the whole carousel thing. The outside world is destroyed but the survivors live inside a protected city.

I'm not sure what the second half of Season 4 will hold in store for us, except the obvious, but I bet you there has got to be some survivors somewhere on the planet. What kind of survivors? Who knows but I highly doubt everyone is dead. Caprica was totally nuked by the cylons, yet many people did survive. Why should Earth be any different?
