Desmond searches for a mysterious woman that can help them stop the island's movements in time. Locke uncovers the person responsible for the attacks on the victims.
So Whidmore was an original Other. I think we all suspected he had been on the island before, but I always figured he was Dharma. Some people have said that Whidmore is originally from the Black Rock crew. Maybe it's true. There was a nice clue in Whidmore's office. Did anyone see the painting in the background with the word Namaste on it? Namaste (I may be spelling it wrong) is the greeting that the Dharma people had for new arrivals.
If Ben is one of The Others and so is Whidmore, why are they on opposite sides? Young Whidmore doesn't follow orders too well. Do you think he broke off from Richard and the group because he didn't want to follow Ben? And why does Richard have long wild hair and a strange outfit when he first meets Ben? He looks perfectly kempt in 1954. I wonder if that's an oversight on the part of the writers.
I guess Faraday knows what's happening to the redhead because he saw it happen to the woman in the bed.
So who wants to bet that the H Bomb will come into play in the last episode.
Me thinks L.A. is a dangerous place for Penny to end up. Is Ben going to kill her, which would free up Desmond to go back to the island? What about his baby? Nice touch naming the kid Charlie.
All this talk about Jacob gave me an idea. That cabin of his jumps around a lot. I wonder if it's moving through time at all. Will Jacob end up being Locke in the end?
I've decided I like this show a lot more when the focus is off Jack and Kate. Those characters just seem to be running in the same circle since season 1.
I've long thought that Richard came from the Black Rock, and the island made him immortal. As for the rest of the Others coming from the Black Rock...maybe. If this is the case, Whidmore wouldn't start aging until he leaves the island, right?
As for Richard's long hair in the 60's (when he meets Ben), maybe it's because the Dharma people had forced the Others into the wild for a few years, so he was a bit scruffy.
I did notice the "namaste" in the painting. Now I'm waiting for somebody online to post Clair's ex-boyfriend's paintings (the one who fathered Aaron, in Austrailia) to see if there's any resemblence.
When Faraday said "bury the nuke," I turned to Kristi and said, "Gee, I guess we know the ultimate fate of the island." I hope I'm wrong, though. It's a bit telegraphed.
Remember when the old lady told Ben that they had to get the Oceanic 6 back to the island "for the sake of all of us"? Maybe an H bomb going off near that funky power source is a threat to the entire planet.
Jacob was hanging with Christian Shepherd and Clair last season. They're both Jack's relative. Is Jacob really Jack stuck in a time loop? Is that why Locke can die but Jack has to go back to the island? Or maybe Jacob is Locke's ghost? I like the jack theory better.
And I think you're right about Penny. Ben will at least TRY to kill her. Hope Des doesn't lose his Tom Baker scarf, though...
Daniel Dae Kim was in the credits, guess what that means...
This whole time jumping also allows for Jack and Kate to die together in the cave in the past, which is my guess to the skeletons in the cave. Though we still have no clue on white v black.
The Widmore reveal was not big enough for me since it was already an assumed possiblity he had been on the island before. You think the blond girl with the gun is Farraday's mom since he thought she was familiar. Does her saying "You just couldn't stay away" have some kind of significance? She didn't seem to recognize him later. I mean ultimately the woman with pendulum with Ben is prolly Farraday's mom.
Wow, Silas, hate is a strong word. I like your theory about that girl being Faraday's mother. It makes perfect sense. I thought about it initially, but dismissed it because I thought a son would recognize his Mother a lot quicker, and without any doubt. But someone here at work said that he probably DID recognize her immediately, but obviously couldn't say anything.
I also like Shun's theory about Jack being Jacob.
I thought the Widmore reveal was great because of the way they did it. You actually got to see him on the island rather than just hear about it. Plus, like I mentioned, I always assumed he was Dharma, so it was a little bit different than what I had thought.
I've been telling everyone from day one that Jin was still alive. It really is a better story if Sun goes all evil, they are reunited, and Jin wantes nothing to do with her because she's not the woman he fell in love with. Then she redeems herself in his eyes and they live happily ever after. Okay, a little cliched, but if Jin stays dead, where does Sun's story arc go?
Oooooh! No one mentioned Latin! Why do they speak an ancient language? Because they are all from the Black Rock.
See, you can't blame the show just because we're piecing stuff together. I guess they are giving us too much time to figure this stuff out though. I think now that they have an end date, the pace will pick up.
Someone online has a really off the wall theory about Desmond and Penny's baby. The baby's name is Charlie, obviously named in honor of Charlie from the island. Penny and Charlie are going to follow Desmond on his new quest. This quest will lead them back to the island, where they'll end up back in time. Charlie will grow up to be Charles Widmore.
Anyone remember what happened at The Swan station on the island? Was that the site of the first "incident"? Check out what someone dug up online...
Eleven years later, in June 1956, the United States was testing the first of a whole new design concept, the Swan device, which was later used as the Robin Primary in the W-45 nuclear weapon and as the primary or first fission stage of the W-38 and W-47 nuclear warheads on early Atlas, Titan, and Polaris missiles.
So they bury the H-Bomb and name it the Swan Station. It goes off, underground, but starts some kind of chain reaction thatcauses the first incident?
"Daniel Dae Kim was in the credits, guess what that means..."
Wolfram & Hart is on the island?
It COULD be for a newly filmed flashback...or some time travel shenanigans...or a "jungle ghost" hallucination. Just saying, with this show, you can't assume that an actor appearing in the credits means he/she is still alive. Just ask Anna Lucia.
That said, I don't HATE the show, but it can really piss me off sometimes. This week's ep was good, but last week was weak. Heroes, now there's a show I hate.
Here's my thing with the time-travel angle: it's sloppy, and rushed. I'm sure everything from this season and last season will tie together nicely, but (for example) if Locke was going to run into Ethan in the past, Ethan should have recognized him in season 1, and the viewer should have spent YEARS wondering "Hey, why was Ethan all weird with Locke?"
Anywho, I love the "blonde girl with gun was Faraday's mother" theory.
The "Baby Charlie = Whidmore" theory is very interesting, but I can't buy it from a genetics perspective. What I COULD buy is that baby Charlie goes back in time, grows up in the UK in the past, and forms the band Driveshaft with his (adopted) brother. "YOU ALL EVERYBODY!"
I hope "Adam & Eve" are Penny & Des...if for no other reason than being so sick of the Jack & Kate storyline. Plus, I'm sticking with "Jack = Jacob"
The Black Rock is old, but only a few hundred years. Latin has been dead for a thousand (or so) years. I'm thinking that four-toed statue predates the Black Rock's arrival on the island. If you think time travel is cliche, wait until we find out that the island is the lost city of Atlantis as described by Socrates (via Plato's writings).
That's the sound of everyone rolling their eyes at my hamfisted use of a philosophy minor.
For Penny's Charlie to be Charlie from Driveshaft, they would have to have another kid which is possible I guess (unless we're saying Charlie gets adopted). Liam was "baby brother" right, not the other way around?
No eye rolling here. I was a philosophy minor too.
And about the Latin... someone online actually recognized the Latin dialect as Roman, as opposed to a more modern form usually spoken (ecclisiastic???).

Miles rules.
