I CALLED IT! As soon as Nathan told Claire "I know it's hard for you to trust me right now, but in a little while it will all make sense", I turned to my wife and told her that Nathan was going to fly Peter up into the sky and save him. She laughed in my face.
Is the cop dead? Did Silar get away? I'm assuming that's what the manhole was all about. Who's the mysterious guy that can see the little girl when she uses her locate power? Maybe Simone's father? He could see Peter. Could he still be alive? Or maybe this guy is next year's big bad.
Anyone catch the obvious homage to Evil Dead with Hiro falling out of the sky in the 1600's? Where's Sam Raimi's car? Do you think one of those Samurai warriors is Hiro's Dad?
Next season is called "Generations". Maybe they'll go into Linderman's generation of heroes... or heroes throughout the generations. It's a great time to be a geek.
why didn't peter read it in nathan's mind? was nathan thinking lies in the off chance that peter could read it, or had he not yet made up his mind about what he was going to do?
why couldn't peter just fly himself up into space?
was it so shocking when the teleport guy suddenly appeared that sylar couldn't stop hiro from running up and skewering him?
even nikki asked dl, "why didn't you just phase us?" did he give an answer?
i really want to love this show, but the writing needs to be sharper in season 2.
my guess about hiro is that he ends up being the hero in the legend about the guy who defeats the dragon. didn't sulu say something to him last night about being "the wind in our history" (or something like that)? i hope i'm wrong, though, b/c i'm writing a story with a dragon in it and i'd have to scrap that idea if they use it on tv...
Ok, my company had a big dinner last night in little italy. Guess who I saw in the area on my way home? Zachary Quinto (Sylar)! He must have been celebrating the finale.
The ending was ok. I was just hoping for no deux ex machina and that didn't happen so that was good.
I knew when they started villifying Nathan early on that he would fly his brother off at the end too. It was kind of a desperate reach to tie everyone to the same place at the same time at the end, but I appreciate the effort. No using the virus to shut down sylar though. Seemed so obvious and would have been so tragic to his character, to rob him of all of his "specialness". At least it can still be incorporated in the future.
I think Nathan only realized after his daughter jumped out of a window and was willing to sacrifice herself that he figured out there was another way which is why Peter couldn't read his mind. It is ridic that peter couldn't fly himself or grab sylar and fly off together to blow up.
The writers proved Ali Larter is just eye candy. Her "sort of coming of age" story was so inconsequential. Almost a let down that her superpowers only awaken in the last episode for her. Oooh she stops sylar from beating peter with a meter. Honestly, the whole thing could have been solved by uber powered Peter alone.
I was kind of hoping Noah (HRG) was going to die by the end. Saving Ando was sort of a let down too.
Inconsistencies: -We all saw that the bomb happens in the day time, but everything happens at night? -Sylar is gone? Uh everyone is so distracted by Peter blowing up, that no one is like "Where did Sylar's corpse go?". No one is going to be like, uh molly, can you find Sylar so we can beat the crap out of him?
I do like that they set up stuff for next season with the eclipse, Simone's dad, and the guy who can see Molly. Can't wait!
Writing, schmiting. This show is so goddamn fun that they'll REALLY have to slip (like Jericho writing bad) for me to be displeased.
I think Ken's right about Hiro being the guy in the legend. That's a better angle. Sorry to ruin your dragon story.
I have a feeling they wrapped up Nikki's storyline and she's history next year. Where can they go with her? She's a movie actress anyway. I bet she signed on for a year and she's done... along with her family.
I was disappointed when Nikki knocked out shapeshifter chick and she appeared as the young and pretty version. I was hoping she was overweight, unattractive, and maybe a minority. It would have tied in so well with her little speech last week about how the world sucks because people treat you differently if you look different. I guess it might have confused the audeience though. Oh well.
Yeah, I was disappointed with that too, but that would have robbed Missy from any precious screentime and she would have basically got none so I see it as producer kind of decision, not necessarily a writing decision.

is this another inconsistancy? didn't she actually tell mikah that she was overweight.
if this show had any balls, the shapshifter would have reverted to a fat dude (a hurley cameo would have been funny), sylar would have been "cured" of his powers by the little girl, and ando would be a mangled corpse.
i'm not saying that it's a steaming pile like jericho, but it needs to be more than just a network adaptation of xmen meets watchmen. here's to hoping next season's "generations" story arc doesn't bite off of powers' "legends" story arc...
LOVED IT! I agree with the Chairman: writing smighting. This show is freaking awesome.
I don't think the bigger badder boogeyman is Simone's father. All that love talk (which I found quite moving) coming from someone more evil than Sylar? Don't think so. Maybe its Mrs. Petrelli.
What's the consensus on Nathan surviving the blast? I'm going with survive. I am also puzzled as to why Peter didn't fly his own ass into space, but perhaps part of a bigger ruse to get Nathan away from his mother and her gang. Play dead, lay low for a while. I will not be surprised if he shows up again.
Notice how Mrs. Petrelli knew Linderman was dead. ESP?
I thought it was kind of cool seeing everyone get a chance to use thier powers. I enjoyed watching Nikki smack Sylar with that meter.
Hiro has some great stuff coming. But I'm not buying the homage to Evil Dead. I mean the guy phased out about 3 stories in the air so he phased in about 3 stories in the air. Maybe if the feudal Japanese were running around saying "Swallow your soul" I'd be on board with that. If he ends up putting a chainsaw on his stump I'll apologize.
