Anybody catch this on Thursday? I stumbled on it by chance. Here's a few of the things they clear up...
The plane definitely came down as a result of Desmond not inputting the numbers. The others, including Ben, didn't know it was going to happen.
It's more than likely that Locke really blew up the sub. I know I was hanging onto a theory that he might have moved it, but apparently Locke will do anything to stay on the island... and this may include keeping the island hidden from outsiders.
Desmond acquired his powers after the hatch blew. He didn't have them when he was talking to Jack in the stadium.
my dvr recorded it, but we didn't bother to watch it.
it's great that shows like lost and galactica are so layered, with so many strange twists, that the producers need to intervene to clarify what is actually known and what is actually unknown.
I thought the special did explain a point to Jin and Claire. It's a subtle one that the producers do in everything. It's the layering that Shu refers to. Without Jin and Claire in bringing the characters to the island - and then motivating them while they are there - we wouldn't care so much about Sun and Charlie.
I thought the special was a great summation. Catches you up with just enough going to make you pleased you've hung with the show, but gives enough foreshadowing to leave you slightly hungry for more.
One disappointment: They say the show ends WHEN they get off the island. So, clearly, they do. And, just as clearly, you know the next few years of epsiodes are the continuation of that struggle. I liked the idea that they get the super-duper phone working and send an emissary to the real world. Then these writers could play with the space-time continuum more by intertwining two realities at once.

I just watched it finally. I like it much better then the previous recaps. It tied together the season better.
I was hanging onto the monster having a hand in the plane crash or a confluence between EMP and monster, but no, i guess its just the EMP.
The special made Jin and Claire seem so pointless to the series. They've got nothing going on for them.
